European Medieval Arts of Arms, llc (EMAA)
is an organization dedicated to the revival and teaching of medieval and
renaissance fighting techniques. Future knights learn combat skills derived
from historical sources, archeological research, and an understanding
of human anatomy and movement. This dynamic curriculum makes EMAA instructors
pioneers of the European Martial Arts industry and our academy the first
of its kind in the United States.
Students begin by learning the sword and then progress to other medieval
weapons. An EMAA knight will know how to use the broadsword, sword and
shield, long-sword, staff, dagger, pike, and a plethora of other weapons
and fighting styles. They will also be trained in grappling and unarmed
striking techniques.
Future knights
also study medieval history and learn about the role of knights during
that time. Students learn about the armor, clothing, society, truth and
myth surrounding the medieval warrior. European Medieval Arts of Arms
is also dedicated to keeping chivalry alive by encouraging virtues such
as valor, loyalty, honesty, and respect.
With a focus
on health, safety, and camaraderie, our academy is an excellent resource
for everyone, regardless of age, experience or lifestyle.
